BATON ROUGE, LA — Campus Federal Credit Union (CFCU) today announced it has received the 2009 WebAward "Credit Union Standard of Excellence" presented annually by the Web Marketing Association. The Web site, www.campusfederal.org, earned this prestigious award based on both the creativity and functionally of the overall interactive online experience. According to Ron Moreau, vice president of marketing, Campus Federal had not reengineered its Web site in several years. After tying the strategic goals of the credit union to the input from its members and in-house project team, Campus Federal partnered with Extractable, a leading user experience design agency in California, to create the user-friendly, safe, and easy to navigate site. Extractable received the Top Agency Award, which recognizes the consistently outstanding development pursued by interactive firms when creating top website designs, at the 2009 WebAward Competition, taking home a total of 25 WebAwards.
"We needed to design a state of the art Web site that tied security, functionality and convenience in one spot where members can have all of their needs addressed," said Moreau. "We don't have numerous brick-and-mortar branches, so creating an online e-branch to take care of all their banking needs was critical."
Added Craig McLaughlin, Extractable’s CEO, "When CFCU approached us to improve the online experience for their customers, we recognized how important a successful website was to their strategic goals. It was a great experience working so closely with the CFCU team and the recognition by the Web Marketing Association is a great endorsement of the joint team’s effort."
The newly designed site allows Campus Federal members to quickly and securely access personal and business accounts, pay bills online, view statements electronically, check rates in real time, even apply for home, auto, personal and business loans privately and securely. Those individuals interested in becoming a Campus Federal member will soon be able to open a new account electronically, a feature that could not have been accomplished before the new site.
For members who want a private, secure conversation with a Campus Federal representative, and who do not want to call them on the phone, the Web site has a "Live Chat" capability during normal business hours to answer questions or assist with account information. After business hours members can send a secure message through online banking and will be answered by a Representative within 24 business hours. The site also features current events, press releases and fraud alerts on the website homepage, to keep the Campus Federal member community informed on important events and trends.
"From mobile banking and instant access to one of our agents or getting a loan approved electronically, Campus Federal has put security and convenience at the fingertips of all of our members," added Moreau. "Whether you're sitting in the quad on the LSU campus with your smartphone or in an office building out of state at your computer, this new e-branch is there for you, 24 hours a day, to meet your needs and your schedule."
Now in its 13th year, the Web Awards is the premier annual Web site award competition that names the best Web sites in 96 industries while setting the standard of excellence for all Website development. The WebAwards provides a benchmark by which all Web site development can be judged.
