Technical Writer / Spec Writer

Extractable has an immediate opening for a technical writer with experience gathering requirements and writing functional specifications for web applications. We offer work on websites and web applications for top brands in a dynamic environment with savvy, creative professional colleagues.

As a member of our Strategy group, you will work in multidisciplinary teams to create smart, innovative solutions for our clients. Our small firm environment will require you to be a jack-of-all-trades when it comes to requirements, specs, documentation, and tech writing in general.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Participating in discovery interviews and documenting client requirements
• Drafting requirements documents
• Creating functional specification documents for web applications
• Writing/documenting use cases
• Constructing process diagrams
• Site documentation for delivery to clients post-launch.

Qualifications

• The ability to ask appropriate questions and communicate effectively to a broad range of people: designers, executives, business development and technical staff
• Experience in developing web applications or traditional software applications.
• Proficiency in the MS Office suite (of course!).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to understand potentially complex concepts and explain them clearly
• Familiarity with software documentation standards and key deliverables
• Understanding of database schema relationships
